A Greek South Italian colonies black glazed skyphos, 4th century B.C.

This is a black glazed Greek South Italian skyphos with horizontal loop handles raised at their ends and a short round tiered pedestal foot.

165 mm between the handles
67 mm high

Some wear to the black glaze particularly on the pedestal base and repairs to the handles, otherwise condition good.

Previous ownership history: From the estate of a deceased London collector. The collector, who worked as a buyer for Fortnum and Mason, Piccadilly, London, built up a fine collection of coins and antiquities purchased from leading London dealers.
