A Greek Pottery Apulian red-figure lekanis | Greek South Italian colonies, 4th Century B.C.

This is a Greek Apulian red-figure lekanis with black outlines, and the lid is decorated with two heads of a lady who is enlivened in white, and two palmettes. The body and lid possibly do not belong to the original piece. There are some minor chips and signs of restoration, but this is a nice example of this particular pottery.

Date: Greek South Italian colonies, 4th Century B.C.

Size: 103 x 100 mm

Provenance: Purchased from a UK dealer in 2020. Previous ownership history: Ex English deceased estate, and reputedly acquired from Coincraft, Great Russell Street, London, sometime between 1977 and the early 2000s.
