A Byzantine Terracotta Oil Lamp | Circa 5th–8th century AD

This slipper lamp's surface has a circular spiral pattern with patches of black on the body. There are chips throughout and a larger area of chipping toward the front. The main features of the lamp include a lug handle and a short nozzle. In good condition overall with attractive decoration.

Provenance: Purchased in 2020 from a London specialist auction. Formerly the property of a North London collector; previously from an old collection formed in the 1980s.
