A Roman Glass Bottle | 1st-2nd century AD

This is an iridescent glass bottle which presents evidence of a chemical reaction from the soil in which it was buried. The bottle has a globular body, tubular neck and rolled rim with swirls of green and blue throughout. At the top of the neck, you can see some deterioration.

Provenance: Purchased from a specialist London auction in 2020. Previously property of a South London collector; acquired before 1980.
