A BYZANTINE OIL LAMP | CIRCA 5TH–8TH CENTURY AD

An oil lamp with a short nozzle and a lug handle to the rear. There is charing around the smaller hole and also in the same place underneath showing signs of use. Distinct circular patterns can be seen on the surface of the lamp and the piece is in good condition overall.

Provenance: Purchased in 2020 from a London specialist auction. Formerly the property of a North London collector; previously from an old collection formed in the 1980s.
