This Byzantine firebomb has a globular short neck. It is hollow inside and made of ceramic. Intended to be filled with explosive liquid and a wick, and used as a hand grenade;

Provenance: Purchased in 2020 from a London specialist auction. Formerly property of a North West London gentleman; part of his father's collection formed during the 1980s.
